Selected Artists

After a long selection and extensive installation process we are finally in the position to conclude the lists of artists who we were able to invite to become part of the exhibition “Doing and Undergoing”. From an overwhelming number of elaborate, distinguished and thoughtful submissions we could sadly only pick a few. We want to apologize to the artists who took the time and the effort that we were unable to acknowledge your proposals properly or where we failed to get back to you earlier; thank you all very much for your beautiful concepts and meaningful ideas. – We are looking forward to other opportunities  in the future. In the meantime we will continue to update this website with opening dates, visitor information, images and accompanying events.

Project Update

Doing and Undergoing is a site-specific installation project celebrating Teachers College 125th year anniversary. Following an open call to professional artists, we have started to install selected artworks and expect to finish the installation process over the month of June. The exhibition will be formally on display from October 15 till Dec 15, 2013. The early installation will give us time to produce an accompanying audio-video guide, which is part of the project. This website will continue to change and contain process documentation and – later on – visitor information as the exhibition progresses and becomes visible to the public. Please return for updates.

Submissions

Thank you for a phenomenal number of high-quality submissions. We have received more than 200 proposals and have started to select those which fit best to the sites, the theme, to each other, and to the context of the building. We will continue with the selection process as we now work towards implementation. Our plan is to have the physical part of the exhibition installed beginning of June in order to have sufficient time to work on the audio-video guide which will be produced over the course of June & July and fine-tuned in September. This website will continue to reflect updates and later on contain visitor information as well as project documentation.

Tour / Site-Seeing

We are offering two public tours for interested artists who would like to see the sites and the building before submitting a proposal. The first tour will take place on Tuesday, April 23, at 6pm. The second tour will take place on Saturday, April 27, at 4.30pm. Meeting point: Lobby, Teachers College Columbia University, 525 West 120th Street, New York, NY 10027. Please RSVP at info@doingandundergoing.net.
